If you have been following rocket launches, you might have noticed that this skill of always keeping the rocket within the field of camera has been improving. Modern-day cameras do not need a skilled human to hold the camera and visually follow the rocket. Dr.Nihar Ranjan Pattnaik, in this immensely interesting presentation, explains the technology of filming a moving rocket, and the purpose of such filming, in a lucid and simple manner.

If there was any hesitation in the minds of the Odias, it was soon put to rest when the predictions of Samanta Chandrasekhara about timings of total solar eclipse were found to be more accurate than any other predictions of the day, including the British.

Stephen Hawkings was greatest quantum physicist who was in search of a grand unified theory. But, he was afflicted with a rare disease called motor neuron disease. I find striking similarity to an often said phenomenon in villages of India where people who meet the village goddess die a premature death.

Jagannath temple has a story associated with it that rhymes with modern time dilation theory. Einstein's theory also states that anything that travels at the speed of light will remain unaffected by the passage of time has an interesting link with a story that is said about the Jagannath Temple at Puri. A Hollywood movie also on a similar line, "Interstellar," has a scene where the characters arrive on a planet where one hour equals seven years on Earth.
When the Puri Jagannath Temple construction was over, King Indradumnya set about inviting the gods to attend the consecration ceremony. When he visited Brahma, he was asked to hurry back to Martya Loka (Earth) as one second on Brahmalok is equal to one Yuga in Martyaloka. As Indradumnya hurried back to Puri, he found everything had changed and a new King, Madhaba is now ruling over his subjects. Madhaba is also claiming to have built the temple. No one could identify Indradumnya as their king as 100 years had passed. Finally, a Tortoise inside the temple premises gives testimony that Indradumnya was the real king, and it was he who had constructed the Jagannath Temple, not Madhaba.

I made this video when I along with my wife, were admitted to Covid Hospital at Bhubaneswar. She was shifted to the HDU and later to the ICU. I was discharged shortly after recovery. Unfortunately, my wife succumbed to complications a few days later.
In the video, you can see the drip stand by my side.
What else could a man do when the final decision lies with the almighty?
Inscrutable are the ways of god, they say.

There is a lack of awareness about autism, even though it is becoming more and more prevalent in our society. With proper care and timely intervention, children who have autism (ASD) can be made to lead a normal life. Ms.Babita Pattanaik has worked extensively in the field for the last three decades and has earned a name. She has given an enlightening talk with a few case studies and has interacted with parents.
BABITA PATNAIK is a Practicing Occupational Therapist by profession;
With around three decades of experience in various settings - hospital inpatient, outpatient, nursing home, assisted living, home health.
Currently working with kids (preschool to high school) with sensory processing issues, handwriting, emotional regulation, incorporating the panchabhuta mahabhuta in a treatment session. She is also a Patanjali yoga teacher; Isha meditator, Entrepreneur; Podcaster, Anchor, Emcee, & moderator of various events & shows.
The field of astronomy has seen little advancement in Odisha since the groundbreaking contributions of Pathani Samant, with few stepping forward to continue his legacy. Dr. Ananda Hota, a distinguished astronomer, addresses this critical gap in his talks, exploring astronomy on international, national, and local levels while highlighting his pioneering initiative, RAD@home, where he serves as Founder Director and Principal Investigator.
Dr. Hota emphasizes the need for an optical observatory in Odisha to foster a robust ecosystem for astronomical research. He also proposes a structured program to engage school and college students in astronomy, nurturing future scholars. Currently a UGC faculty member at the UM-DAE Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, University of Mumbai, Dr. Hota founded RAD@home on April 15, 2013, as India’s first citizen science research platform in astronomy. He earned his PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics in 2007, jointly from the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA-TIFR), Pune, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. His career spans prestigious institutions, including GMRT Observatory, ASIAA-Taiwan, IUCAA-Pune, and IISER-Berhampur, before returning to India in 2012 to launch RAD@home.
A member of the International Astronomical Union, Astronomical Society of India, and Square Kilometre Array India Consortium, Dr. Hota has been honored with the Samanta Chandrasekhar Jyotirbigyani Sanman by the Chief Minister of Odisha and directors of IISER-Kolkata and Berhampur. His astronomical discoveries, which made international headlines in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2022, have been featured by NASA, JPL, CalTech, the Royal Astronomical Society, and the National Astronomical Society of Japan, generating millions of Google hits and social media views. His research focuses on multi-wavelength observations of black hole-galaxy co-evolution.
Through RAD@home, Dr. Hota engages the public in groundbreaking discoveries using the GMRT, the world’s largest radio telescope and a source of national pride. Supported by Nature Index, IAU, SKA, and numerous Indian research institutes, RAD@home has trained thousands of citizens and students in astronomy research. In his talks, Dr. Hota simplifies his findings on exotic stars, galaxies, and supermassive black holes, inviting the science-educated public to participate in citizen science from home.
